Learn what the Windows desktop can do to improve your efficiency. Discover how Windows organizes your files, arranges your desktop, and pick up some shortcuts and tricks.
Word 1: March 9, 16 (12:00 – 4:00 PM)
In this introductory course, students will learn the basics of document preparation including character formatting, paragraph formatting and document formatting. We will work with graphics, styles, themes, and document designs.
Word 2: April 6, 13 (12:00 – 4:00 PM)
Students will learn how to create a Mail Merge for printed materials, labels and emails; create interactive forms; use calculated fields in a table; and format large documents with Styles and Themes, tables of contents, indexes, citations and captions.
Excel 1: April 20, 27 (12:00 – 4:00 PM)
This course covers entering and formatting numbers and text; ranges; copying and moving data; basic formulas; data entry short-cuts like filling in a range, auto sum, auto complete and auto fill; relative and absolute cell references; printing.
Excel 2: May 11, 18 (12:00 – 4:00 PM)
This course covers large workbooks with multiple worksheets; 3D formulas; more advanced formulas for financial, logical and date questions; Excel as a datasheet (database table), including sorting and filtering.
Excel 3: July 13 (12:00 – 4:00 PM)
This course covers how to use Excel for a variety of problem-solving tasks. Included are using Excel as a database, utilizing conditional formatting, data validation, the Data Table; outlining and subtotaling; Paste Special with calculations; consolidating; programmatic formulas including VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, ISERROR, and nested IF statements with AND and OR; and Pivot Tables and Scenarios.
PowerPoint 1: May 25, June 1 (12:00 – 4:00 PM)
This course covers all PowerPoint has to offer for creating, designing, delivering, and creating handouts for presentations. Students will learn slide layout and design; inserting content on slides; normal, slide sorter and slide show views; slide transition.
PowerPoint 2: June 8, 15 (12:00 – 4:00 PM)
This course covers creating photo albums; using sound and recordings; content animation; preparing for a wide audience using presentation CD and video; and printing handouts.
Presentations 101: June 22, 29 (12:00 – 4:00 PM)
So, you're not comfortable with public speaking, despite being a subject matter expert? Not a problem! You can learn to be engaging and entertaining, and still communicate the subject no matter how mundane it is. In this class you will choose a subject that you are comfortable presenting, apply tools from PowerPoint as your visual aid, then present to a friendly audience.
Classes are located at the College’s Center for Applied Science Technology (CAST) building at 829 Martin Luther King Blvd, Malvern, AR 72104. Each class is four hours in length and costs $79 per student per class; registering more than one student is $69 each.
