COTO Foundation's First Endowed Scholarship Fully Funded by Malvern National Bank

Malvern, Arkansas – College of the Ouachitas Foundation is thrilled to announce that the first named endowed scholarship established by a business is now fully funded. The Malvern National Bank Endowed Scholarship is officially the first named endowed scholarship at College of the Ouachitas.

This gift culminates many years of support from Malvern National Bank.  In an agreement with MNB, the endowment will remain invested, and the return will provide annual support for current and future generations of COTO students in perpetuity.

“MNB has had a long and close relationship with College of the Ouachitas since its formation many years ago as a technical college,” stated Malvern National Bank President, Mark Roberts. “COTO serves our community by providing an affordable avenue for an outstanding education as well as a means of assisting local business and industry to keep our community growing.  I can’t think of anything better for MNB to support.”

Dr. Steve Rook, President of College of the Ouachitas expressed his appreciation to the bank, “We are so grateful for Malvern National Bank’s generosity to COTO,” said. “MNB has been a valued supporter of the College since there was first talk about the need for a higher education presence in Hot Spring County in the 1960’s. Through endowments like this, we can continue to provide rich educational experiences for our students, empowering them for a successful future in our ever-changing world.”

According to Executive Director of the College Foundation, Amber Childers, now that the endowment is fully funded, a scholarship will be awarded in the name of the bank annually in perpetuity. The scholarship will be needs-based and the recipient may be either a new or current student with full-time enrollment status at College of the Ouachitas, and a graduate from a high school that participates in the MNB Academic Prime Program (currently those schools include Malvern, Glen Rose, Poyen, Magnet Cove, Sheridan, Ouachitas, Bismarck, Cutter Morning Star and Mountain Pine.)

This gift reflects a commitment to the future success of College of the Ouachitas.  By establishing this endowment, Malvern National Bank ensures that their values and legacy become a permanent part of the College’s success.
